The Family Adoption Programme for Phase 1 MBBS professionals, 2023 was flagged off today at 10am on 23rd September, 2023 by the Principal of Nalbari Medical College and Hospital Prof. (Dr.) Babul Kumar Bezbaruah in august presence of the Vice Principal Dr. Bonti Bora and faculties of Nalbari Medical College. Each of the students of Phase 1 were alloted families for adoption for next five years in the community. This programme is an excellent opportunity for Indian Medical Graduates towards community based health care and thereby enhance equity in health. This programme is run by Department of Community Medicine in Nalbari Medical College.

 As on 1st June, 2024 families from 2 more villages namely Borkhala and Thanpatkuchi were adopted. The details of the villages are given alongwith:

1. Narpara Village (population size: 870, 100 families adopted)

2. Borkhala Village (population size: 1688, 100 families adopted)

3. Thanpatkuchi Village (population size: 780, 100 families adopted)

So, as of now 300 adopted families across 3 villages which means 3 families per student
